Vessel of Offerings III

More than oftentimes, I find myself observing my grandmother offering sweets and tea to our ancestors in the morning. The smell of burnt incense fuses our home. I wonder what blessing she asked our ancestors today and why offerings were of such significance.
“Cúng”, a Vietnamese term for making offerings and prayers. A tradition within Vietnamese households where sacred spaces hold shrines and/or altars.
“Vessel of Offerings” is a cyanotype print depicting teacup sets that convey a photographic dialogue of tea offering rituals. Metaphorically, its connotations of holding conversations or blessings. Tea ceremonies are customary practice in Eastern Asia where it represents respect, blessing, bonding and peace.
Note: For the 1st image, I used Kozo washi which creates the paper fibre texture. Please message me if you are interested in the textured version. Print may be varied in appearance with Kozo washi.

Love the new artwork in my office and living room. It lifts us up everyday, acts as a conversation piece in Zoom calls, and we love the most being able to support artists in our communities as well.
